Youth @ Trinity

Trinity has had a number of active groups for the younger members of the congregation, as well as for others outside the immediate congregation.  There is, however, recognition in Trinity that we have not been investing enough energy in supporting our young people and their leaders recently.  There has been talk and prayer about the need for a youth worker and discussions have started with neighbouring churches about sharing such a person.  The vision work that is underway will seek to clarify the extent to which we should be investing in this key area of work.

We have been blessed with many dedicated and wonderful youth leaders over the years.  Currently we have the following groups:

Pilots

Pilots is a non-uniformed organisation for boys and girls aged 5 to 15 years. Pilots are called:

  • Deckhands (5-7)
  • Adventurers (7-10)
  • Voyagers (11-15)

Pilots meet every Monday evening at 6.00pm, for various activities including games, art, craft, drama and topics of interest of which a record is kept towards Crest Awards throughout the year. Pilots meet with other Pilot companies in the country for days of fun, fellowship and games during the year. Organised camps are held in the summer for Pilots aged 9 and over. The aim is to help the children feel part of the Church Family.

Earley Youth Net

This is for youth over 13 and involves loads of different activities from just having fun to exploring topical and important life issues from a Christian perspective.  The aim is help teenagers make good friends with each other and to help them find Jesus – Youth Alpha has been used.  Youth Net is a joint youth group with neighbouring churches.

Boys Brigade

The Boys Brigade is a uniformed organisation for boys aged 5 to 17 years and we’ve had the 1st Earley Company here since Trinity started.   The Company has been successful over the years in various Boy Brigade competitions.  In recent years numbers have dropped off and new leaders are needed as our faithful leaders throughout the Company’s history need to retire.  Consequently the future of the Company is in question.

Holiday Bible Club

Usually during the summer holiday we organise a Holiday Bible Club with Bible-based fun for the children aged 5 -11.  This normally has a theme, such as 'The Big Top', with lots of clowns, jugglers and acrobats and often over 40 youngsters (and the helpers) enjoy a memorable day or two.
